Township Committeeman Ben Stoller Endorses Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs

Dear Millburn Residents,

As a member of the Millburn Township Committee, elected with your trust in 2023, I have had the privilege of serving our community and witnessing the importance of principled, effective leadership. It is with great confidence that I endorse Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto for Township Committee, two individuals whose dedication, skills and vision align with Millburn's needs.

I have worked closely with Kris Heinrichs in my role as liaison to the Millburn Board of Education, where he currently serves as president. Kris is a consummate professional, a critical thinker, and adept at fostering constructive dialogue, even when opinions differ. His ability to navigate complex issues with clarity and move forward collaboratively makes him an exceptional leader for our township.

Jamie Serruto, whom I have known since childhood through our children's shared school years, brings a deep commitment to Millburn. His well-intentioned nature and eagerness to learn have translated into a strong record of volunteer service across our schools, neighborhoods and community organizations. Jamie's energy and fresh perspective will ensure Millburn remains a vibrant place for families.

Together, Kris and Jamie will build on the significant progress initiated by Committeeman Frank Saccomandi and me. Since 2023, we have achieved a significant reduction in crime through enhanced public safety measures and technology, made strategic investments in the Paper Mill Playhouse to ensure the longevity of local businesses, secured a three-year extension on the town-wide property tax reassessment to provide financial stability for residents, implemented safeguards against overdevelopment, are addressing critical flooding issues with actual professionals and secured a referendum for this November's ballot to explore a new form of a non-partisan local government. Additionally, we have brought a new level of professionalism, civility, competence and common sense to the Township Committee, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes Millburn's well-being.

Kris, with his financial expertise as a CFO and CPA, and Jamie, with his community-driven passion, share our commitment to preserving Millburn's character and enhancing its quality of life. I respectfully ask for your support in electing Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto to the Township Committee. They are the principled, forward-thinking leaders Millburn needs.

Sincerely,
Ben Stoller

Why I Will Vote for Millburn (Jamie Serruto & Kris Heinrichs)
Why this election matters for Millburn's future

I moved to the Upper Wyoming section of Millburn in 2021 from neighboring South Orange-Maplewood (SOMA), to escape the deteriorating school district and quality of life there. And I love it here. Unfortunately, I have grown concerned that Millburn-Short Hills (MSH) could repeat some of the same mistakes as SOMA, hence this letter to my neighbors.

What I Learned from SOMA
Like MSH, SOMA has had a great history, but it has been grossly mismanaged. Anyone who drives around the downtown area of South Orange can see the town has been overdeveloped. There are apartment complexes everywhere, empty storefronts, and traffic is horrible.

Each time an apartment building was approved, the mayor made promises that the development would revitalize the downtown, bringing visitors from neighboring towns, causing new restaurants to sprout up and increasing tax revenue. Behind the scenes, land was sold at below market rates and generous long-term tax breaks were given to the developers (e.g. 15 years of no property tax).

The result has been a disaster. Despite jacking up property taxes, the school district has become overburdened. Last year, the SOMA school district cut 28 positions (mostly teachers and counselors) due to budgetary issues. A decade ago, people were drawn to SOMA for its school district, but it's since gone downhill in the rankings. More and more people are leaving SOMA, like I did in 2021, and property values have underperformed.

We are vulnerable to the same downward spiral here in MSH, and mistakes have already been made. We need to stop this situation now, before it gets any worse.

The Rise of Vote For Millburn (VFM)
Vote for Millburn (VFM) started two years ago as a nonpartisan, common sense response to overdevelopment concerns and a desire for better management. Running against the establishment, VFM's Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller got elected with almost 2/3 of the vote in 2023, because the vast majority of residents want development to be reasonable and responsible.

Frank and Ben have done a great job. Among other things, they worked with the Business Administrator and Chief of Police to increase neighborhood patrols, resulting in crime rates falling dramatically during their first year in office – a 60% reduction in vehicle thefts and 40% decrease in home burglaries.

Frank and Ben have also championed transparency and resident involvement in major decisions. They created the Citizens Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and ensured residents had input on the Fourth Round Housing Element, successfully managing our obligations while keeping densities reasonable. They listened to residents who were sick of the overdevelopment downtown — as a result, most of the Fourth Round development has been proposed for locations near the Mall at Short Hills. Further respecting the wishes of residents, Frank and Ben successfully added the Charter Study Referendum to this November’s ballot, overcoming the incumbents' attempt to table the introduction of the ordinance.

Unfortunately, VFM is still outnumbered and needs reinforcements to continue this progress.

Two Amazing Candidates
Fortunately, VFM has two exceptional candidates: Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs.

Jamie is passionate and energetic. He has served on the MSH Board of Education. His family has been in Short Hills for generations. He's the current president of the Fourth of July Committee and volunteers at every major town event. He was the youngest elected official in New Jersey when first elected to the Board of Education, where he served for three years.

Kris is a seasoned CFO with a proven track record who is currently giving back to MSH by serving as President of the Millburn Board of Education. He brings over 20 years of experience managing global technology companies, plus military service as a U.S. Army officer. He was unanimously elected by his Board of Education colleagues to serve as President.

Along with Frank Saccomandi (a highly successful Chief Technology Architect) and Ben Stoller (a well-respected investor and entrepreneur), VFM's candidates are high-caliber individuals who are invested in the long-term future of MSH, have no other motivation than to serve our best interests, and have the requisite skills to make the $100 million-plus worth of financial decisions our township faces.

Critical Election
Although VFM's candidates won by a landslide two years ago, this time they are running against incumbents. The incumbents have name recognition, and most people are busy with work and family and may not be aware of all the issues at stake.

This election will determine whether we continue on the path that VFM has championed: that of transparency and a resident-first approach to opposing reckless overdevelopment.

Nonpartisan Elections
One of the most important things VFM has championed is a pathway toward making local elections nonpartisan. Many other towns in NJ have started doing this, because people recognize that hot button national issues (e.g. abortion rights, LGBT rights) have absolutely nothing to do with local issues (e.g. traffic, development), and in these polarized times can give one side an advantage based on factors irrelevant to local governance.

I have gotten to know all four VFM candidates, and they are all socially liberal (e.g. pro-choice, pro-LGBT), but unfortunately, due to the existing structure of the government, they have to run on the opposing party line in order to mount a feasible challenge that wouldn’t be relegated to Ballot Siberia. This is exactly why we must move toward nonpartisan elections. It should just be about good governance and letting the best candidates win—not about political gamesmanship.

Transparency Matters
Everyone should do their own research. Vote For Millburn has a detailed website that lays out all their positions on the issues (https://voteformillburn.com/).

I wanted to share my perspective, in case it helps motivate people to understand each of the candidates better before voting in this election. Our schools and roads are already at capacity, and our property taxes are already among the highest in the state.

We don't want to become like SOMA in 10 years, hiking taxes while cutting teachers.

If you wish to learn more about VFM, feel free to reach out to me at ryerasi@gmail.com. Better yet, feel free to reach out directly to the VFM candidates themselves at VoteForMillburn.com, jamieandkris@voteformillburn.com, call or text at (973) 475-8388.

I've Lived in Millburn for 74 Years. Here's Why I'm Voting Serruto & Heinrichs
The Pittenger family's 150 years in Millburn taught us what's worth fighting for--and who can protect it

The Pittenger family has resided in Millburn for over 150 years. I personally have lived in this fine town for over 74 years. My four children have all attended Millburn schools and have gone on to make good use of the great education. I care deeply about the future of this town.

We are seeing a very concerning trend in the town with the vast amount of overdevelopment. The 150 apartments going up on the former Annie Sez site will change my part of town forever. It has already had an impact on the safety of our residents with increased traffic and decreased safety on the roads and sidewalks. The developer has received all the benefits, and we are receiving all the detriments in our neighborhood.

The high density of this project did not have to be approved, but it was. There was no concern about what we felt — how our neighborhood would be impacted. It was just done, without our say or feedback. This project was brought into our town by the 2021 Fair Share Housing agreement signed by our former elected officials. This very poorly negotiated agreement is now causing our families to bear the brunt of crowded schools, unsafe roads and far less pedestrian safety.

I am thankful for the Vote for Millburn committee members, Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller, who have made a distinct impact on pushing back hard on the developers and the state who want to destroy our suburban town. They came in after this Annie Sez mess was created, but their initiatives have stopped the “Dump” housing project. Frank and Ben are working hard to ensure that affordable housing obligations for the next 10 years are dealt with in a much more responsible manner.

We need more qualified people to serve this community on our Township Committee like them.

I have known the Serruto family for many decades. They are a family who also care deeply about the future of our town and over the years have made many efforts to improve the character and quality of our town.

I fully support Jamie Serruto and his running mate, Kris Heinrichs. They are the exceptional leaders our town must have to deal with managing out-of-control development, prevent flooding in our part of town and beyond, and protect our schools.

I ask you to join me in voting for Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto. We all want Millburn to thrive as it has for our family for the past 150 years. Vote for you. Vote for your family. Vote for our kids. Vote for Millburn.

Glenwood Resident Cites Shared Military and Eagle Scout Values, Opposition to Overdevelopment

I am pleased to endorse Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto on the Vote for Millburn ticket for the 2025 Township Committee election. Kris and Jamie have demonstrated a commitment to serve the interests of our town, rather than follow the directives of political bosses or outside agendas.

Not only have both served on our school board. Jamie was the youngest elected in NJ, and Kris is the current BOE President. Kris is also a fellow military veteran and Jamie is a fellow Eagle Scout.

I hope the residents of Millburn will support Jamie and Kris so they, along with Ben Stoller and Frank Saccomandi, can continue to advance at a more accelerated pace the Vote for Millburn platform. They stand resolutely against reckless overdevelopment. They will put residents’ interests before developers, double down on crime prevention and pedestrian safety measures, and ensure the town supports keeping Millburn schools at the very top. They will preserve the exceptional quality of life in our community.

Please join me in voting for Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto. I’m voting for you by voting for them. Vote for Millburn.

Vote for Millburn! Serruto & Heinrichs are "Exactly What Our Community Needs at This Pivotal Time"
Proven Service Records and Dedication to Community Set Vote for Millburn Candidates Apart

I enthusiastically endorse Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs for Millburn Township Committee. Both Jamie and Kris have already demonstrated, at early stages of their lives, an extraordinary commitment to our community through years of hands-on service and leadership.

Jamie, comes from multiple generations of Millburn residents, and from a very young age, began and has established, an impressive record of civic involvement. He served three years on the Millburn Board of Education, was Class President of Millburn High School for four consecutive years, and served as this year’s President of the Fourth of July Committee. And from knowing him personally, his warmth and sincerity make him not only an effective leader but also one of the most approachable people in town.

Kris Heinrichs is a U.S. Army veteran, longtime Short Hills resident and accomplished executive in finance and operations. Within the community, Kris currently serves as President of the Millburn Board of Education and has held multiple leadership roles within local PTO organizations. Kris and his wife are also proud parents of three daughters, all attending Millburn public schools. With deep ties to the community and commitment to service, Kris brings steady, experienced leadership and a clear, forward-thinking vision for Millburn’s future.

What truly sets Jamie and Kris apart is not just their dedication, it's their vision. They have built a platform rooted in transparency, stopping reckless development and protecting the residents and character of our community. And they are devoted to continuing the important work begun by Committeemen Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller — particularly the ongoing fight against irresponsible overdevelopment.

Specifically, under Saccomandi and Stoller’s leadership, Millburn has made great strides in addressing its affordable housing obligations in a manner that represents the interests of the Township’s residents. Their opposition to the 100% income-segregated dump housing project and the establishment of the Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Affordable Housing show a clear commitment to thoughtful, resident-driven planning.

Both Jamie and Kris share that same commitment. They are not running to rubber-stamp the agendas of county or state politicians; they are running because they genuinely care about Millburn’s future.

For these reasons, I urge you to support Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs for Millburn Township Committee. Their proven dedication, independent-minded approach to problem-solving, and resident-focused platform are exactly what our community needs at this pivotal time.

Adam Bell Endorses Jamie Serruto for Township Committee
Longtime Millburn Resident: 'When There Is Work to Be Done, Jamie Shows Up and Follows Through'

To the voters of Millburn Township,

I am honored to write this testimonial in support of Jamie Serruto, a person I have known since he was a young man, close friends with my son. Over the years, I have witnessed Jamie’s growth, dedication and unfaltering commitment to public service, and I believe he would be an outstanding member of the Millburn Township Committee.

From his teenage years, Jamie showed an exceptional work ethic. He threw himself into volunteering, local events, and community service — even before he could vote, he already understood the importance of giving back. While still in high school, Jamie worked with the Millburn Short Hills Chamber of Commerce organizing events, advocacy, promotion of local business and youth programming. His early roles – scorekeeper for township recreation, volunteer with downtown development, site manager — all added up not just to experience, but to an early pattern: when there is work to be done, Jamie shows up and follows through.

When he turned 18, Jamie ran for and won a seat on the Millburn Township Board of Education — becoming one of the youngest elected officials in New Jersey. Even in that role, he was thoughtful, collaborative, and deeply concerned with practical results.

Jamie brings a long-standing commitment to public service and a deep-rooted dedication to the future of our community. Through various engagements, I have had the personal opportunity of working with him and seeing his outstanding strategic, organizational and outreach skills at work.

Throughout all of this, Jamie has retained integrity, a willingness to listen before acting, and a genuine belief in the value of local government — how decisions made at the township level affect real people’s daily lives: safe roads, good schools, responsive services, community cohesion.

I have no doubt Jamie Serruto is more than qualified to serve on the Millburn Township Committee. His experience, moral character and deep roots in our community make him someone who will work hard, collaborate with respect, and strive to make Millburn an even better place for all residents. I strongly support his candidacy and encourage you to do the same.

Any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Proven Executive Leadership: Former Recyclebank Colleague Endorses Kris Heinrichs
CFO Collaboration at Award-Winning Clean Tech Company Demonstrates Municipal Leadership Skills

I have had the privilege of knowing Kris Heinrichs for decades and the opportunity to work closely with him at Recyclebank, where he served as Chief Financial Officer while I was Executive Vice President of Operations and Loyalty. Recyclebank was recognized as the Wall Street Journal’s #1-ranked Clean Technology Company and one of Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World. During our tenure, the company tripled its membership and revenues, growing to serve more than 4 million members across 300 communities in the U.S. and U.K.

Much of this success came during a period of significant challenge, and Kris consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, sound judgment and strong analytical skills. Importantly, he made decisions with honesty and transparency, even when they were difficult — an approach that quickly earned him the respect of employees, clients, and strategic partners alike.

In addition to overseeing finance, Kris also managed our HR function, which required empathy, strong people skills and the ability to resolve sensitive issues fairly and effectively. His role further required close collaboration with municipalities, giving him firsthand experience with the due process required to move decisions forward in a fair, transparent and effective way. Beyond these responsibilities, Kris played a pivotal role in strengthening our relationship with Waste Management, the company’s most critical partner, which served many of the local municipalities we worked with — an example of his ability to act strategically for the broader good of the organization and the communities it touched.

Kris’s leadership style is collaborative, practical and solutions-oriented — qualities that translate directly to effective public service. Having also served on township committees myself, I am confident that his skills and character will serve this community well. He combines business acumen with a genuine sense of responsibility to others, and he has my strongest endorsement for this role. Because he already understands how to work within municipal structures, Kris will be able to contribute effectively from day one.

Without hesitation, I would welcome the opportunity to work with Kris again and I encourage you to support his candidacy.

Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs: Vote for Millburn Candidates Ready to Build on Proven Success
Experienced Leaders Committed to Transformative Vote for Millburn Platform

As a very involved member of the bi-partisan group, Vote for Millburn, I have witnessed firsthand over the past two years the tremendous progress made by our 2023 elected officials, Ben Stoller and Frank Saccomandi, who were elected with an overwhelming 67% mandate from our Millburn Short Hills community.

Our town has faced significant challenges in recent years, particularly around housing development and community representation. What made the difference was bringing together residents from across the political spectrum—Democrats, Republicans and Independents—all working toward the same goal: effective local governance that serves our community's needs.

Signature Vote for Millburn Accomplishments
Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller have promoted the Vote for Millburn platform, which has delivered measurable results that benefit all residents, regardless of party. Here are the key accomplishments that have transformed our community:

Public Safety Excellence: 60% reduction in vehicle thefts and 40% decrease in home break-ins through comprehensive crime prevention strategies that have been instituted since the Vote for Millburn team was elected.

Opposing Overdevelopment: The election of Ben and Frank was the catalyst that stopped the dump housing project in its tracks in January 2024. The Vote for Millburn Team also spearheaded the creation of the Citizens Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. With Frank as the Chair, this committee worked with a Planning Board subcommittee to draft the Fourth Round Housing Element, which has successfully navigated state mandates and kept the town safe from developer lawsuits. Under Frank’s leadership, our Fourth Round obligation has shrunk by nearly 75% — a stark departure from the Third Round mismanagement of prior single-party-controlled administrations.

Transparent Governance: Inclusive manner of governing that encourages resident involvement in major decisions, representing a fundamental shift toward open government. Adding a second round of public comment and ensuring Zoom participation as an option.

Respect for Resident Input: Support for the Charter Study Commission from day one, giving residents a voice in nonpartisan elections. The incumbents voted against allowing the Charter Study Commission to be introduced.

The Vote for Millburn approach has drawn support from residents regardless of party affiliation because it prioritizes measurable results and community needs over politics as usual.

Kris Heinrichs brings seasoned financial executive experience with over 20 years managing global technology companies, plus current service as Board of Education President—unanimously elected by his colleagues. His military service as a U.S. Army officer demonstrates his commitment to public service.

Jamie brings lifelong community dedication as a Millburn resident with generational family ties. As president of the Fourth of July Committee and active volunteer leader in multiple community organizations, he demonstrates consistent leadership through service. His previous tenure as the youngest elected official in New Jersey on our Board of Education shows his proven track record.

Through my extensive interactions with both Jamie and Kris, I can unequivocally state that both candidates stand unwaveringly with Israel and against all forms of antisemitism.

Our community deserves representatives who deliver measurable improvements in residents' quality of life. The Vote for Millburn approach has transformed our town's trajectory through professional competence and community-focused governance.

Vote for competent leaders who will put you first. Vote for yourself, vote for family, vote for kids. Vote for Millburn.

Please Support the Vote for Millburn Candidates for Township Committee

As a long-time resident of the Millburn/Short Hills community, I've seen our town grow, change and face many challenges over the years. In recent years, one unfortunate change has been the construction of too many high-rise, high-density apartment buildings. I do understand that our town is required by law to build more housing, but the current construction has far exceeded what is required. And this has been done with little, or perhaps no, regard for how an increased population will affect our traffic, our property taxes, and, most importantly, our schools.

This is why I gladly endorse Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto for the Millburn Township Committee. If elected, they will work closely with our excellent committee members Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller to ensure that state-mandated overdevelopment is kept in check. They will work their hearts out to mitigate the overcrowding that threatens to ruin the smooth functioning and beauty of our town.

We don't need partisanship or Trenton-based politics as usual. We need leaders who truly care about the community, focus on solutions, and will put the interests of Millburn residents first. Leadership at the local level matters. Kris and Jamie are the proven, competent leaders that we need.

I encourage all who love the town as it is to join me in voting for Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto for Township Committee this November. Millburn/Short Hills will be better for it.

Don't Vote for Party. Vote for yourself, vote for family, vote for kids. Vote for Millburn

My family are five-year residents of the South Mountain section. We love Millburn and the South Mountain School.

But I am disappointed by how slowly the Township Committee has responded to the impacts of overdevelopment and flood mitigation. Flooding and overdevelopment threaten our South Mountain community. The reckless overdevelopment was brought into our town by the 2021 Fair Share Housing agreement signed by our former elected officials. This very poorly negotiated agreement is now causing so much development that it strains our schools, roads, and safety.

I got involved to change this trajectory for my family and neighbors. In 2023, I joined the Vote for Millburn team when Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller ran, and they led the kind of change we all voted for. Their initiatives have stopped the "Dump" project, got a sensible Round 4 deal with the state for affordable housing for the next 10 years, significantly lowered crime and improved our Downtown businesses.

We need to accelerate those changes and adapt our town to the rapid overdevelopment impacts facing us. We need even more responsible, experienced, skilled leaders.

Jamie’s deep volunteerism and Kris’s leadership as a CFO/CPA and Board of Education president will strengthen Frank and Ben’s work — controlling development, addressing flooding and protecting our children’s exceptional schools.

For me, the choice is obvious. I will be voting for Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto in this election. I encourage every one of my neighbors to do the same, to protect our beautiful town and our quality of life. Vote for us. Vote for Millburn.

Lifelong resident of Millburn-Short Hills Endorses Vote for Millburn Candidate

As a lifelong resident of Millburn-Short Hills, having grown up in the local school system and as a member of the first aid squad, I've developed a deep understanding of what makes our town unique and the qualities a leader must possess to thrive here.

After working hand-and-hand with Jamie on multiple initiatives over the past eight years, I can say with confidence that Jamie embodies these qualities.

I witnessed Jamie successfully lead the Millburn High School Class of 2020 as Class President, winning re-election each year with ease. In his role as a Student Liaison to the Board of Education, Jamie effectively influenced education policies to align with the best interests of the students. And when Jamie won the election to become the youngest-ever Member of the Board of Education, he called me and many of my family and friends, eager to gather our thoughts on how the school system could be improved and subsequently followed up with his progress on integrating our ideas.

Perhaps more importantly, Jamie's passion and love for Millburn-Short Hills is remarkable.

During high school, everyone knew Jamie Serruto. He attended nearly every sporting event, academic competition and club/charity initiative. Each season, Jamie was an integral part of the Millburn High School pep rally where he typically delivered a speech spreading his love for our community with the rest of the students and faculty. His family is a staple in our community and has resided here for over 50 years. Jamie even owns a Millburn-themed necktie!

Above all, Jamie is a devoted public servant. From a young age, he has consistently demonstrated the drive and ability to understand the needs of his constituents and translate them into actionable policies and impact.

In an election where such important issues are on the table – including sensible development, education, and crime – he is the leader we deserve.

He listens carefully, considers all sides, and makes decisions with integrity and fairness. He’s the kind of person who doesn’t just talk about solutions — he works hard to create them. I (Chris) am a senior finance executive at a global Fortune 500 company. Kris has a similar skill set, and I can see how this would be extremely beneficial to the town.

Kris will fight to keep our neighborhoods safe by making public safety a top priority. He’s also one of the few candidates willing to take a real stand against overdevelopment—including opposing the Dump Housing Project, which threatens our quality of life and the character of our town.

Our town needs leaders who care deeply, act responsibly, and truly understand the people they serve. Kris is exactly that leader we need who can bring people together. We are proud to call him a friend, and even prouder to support his campaign.

Respectfully submitted,
Chris and Margaret Craig

Vote for Millburn! Serruto & Heinrichs for Township Committee: True Leaders Who Put Millburn Residents Before Party Politics
They Will Fight for Millburn Over Politically-Connected Special Interests

Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs are ideal candidates to fight for the residents of Millburn. They are deeply committed to the values of community service that are woven into the fabric of their lives. Millburn means something to them – where we raise our families and dream of a better future. But at this fork in the road, we face a critical moment. Millburn has been overrun with unchecked development driven by powerful political connections at the state level, and it's tearing apart the very character of our community.

Two years ago, Frank Saccomandi and Ben Stoller won in a stunning landslide victory to take on these challenges. With Jamie and Kris by their side, together they will form a majority of the Town Committee, a team that will finish the job for Millburn’s future.

I’ve known Jamie from as far back as a childhood friend of my oldest son, and watched him develop into a tireless community servant. As the youngest member of the Board of Education, he served throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. This Eagle Scout serves on numerous volunteer teams and remains actively involved with the Scouts. Millburn’s issues are close to Jamie’s heart, and his ability to speak to the challenges we face while offering pragmatic solutions is unmatched.

Kris is the current President of the Board of Education. He understands the responsibilities of service, as he committed himself to the US Army as a young college student through ROTC. He has over 15 years of community service. His roots are firmly planted in Millburn, where he lives with his wife and raises three daughters, and there is no one more determined to keep Millburn a thriving community for all of our families. Kris will certainly bring perseverance to the Town Committee that perhaps only a former soldier can muster.

A few years ago, the former Democrats on the committee made the disastrous decision to approve the development of the toxic DPW site. This 100% income-segregated development was approved in a closed-door meeting, denying public comment. They agreed to sell this site for $0, pay the developer $4 mil to start it, and pay no taxes. Sadly, the Democratic leadership is only now taking a stand against this development. Jamie and Kris have been unwavering in their commitment to fighting this misguided project.

Jamie and Kris will take on public safety issues, building upon the initiatives led by Frank and Ben.

The tide is changing in Millburn. The community is coming together to join this tidal wave of change that started two years ago in a landslide. We have a chance to finish what we started and overturn the disastrous decisions of our recent past. We need a path back to common sense and sustained development. To do this, we need leaders who will fight with heart and courage. Join us in making a change for our future, a change for our families. Vote for Jamie Serruto and Kris Heinrichs because Millburn deserves better!

Zachary Glatt Endorses Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto
Millburn High School Alumnus Endorses Vote for Millburn Candidates

Dear Millburn Community,

I am writing to publicly endorse two candidates for this upcoming election. I don't write this as a Republican or a Democrat but as a prior Student Representative to the Board of Education and graduate of Millburn High School (MHS). I endorse Kris Heinrichs and Jamie Serruto for the Township Committee.

Kris Heinrichs:
During my time on the BOE I had the opportunity to see a clear telling of Mr. Heinrichs’ true character. There are three strong characteristics that resonate with me that I would like to share with everyone: Mr. Heinrichs’ courage, dedication and trustworthiness.

Courage:
Mr. Heinrichs showed courage by being the sole voice of opposition at times and staying true to what he thought was right. An example of this is when there was a proposal to hire new legal counsel without advance notice to the administration, the public, other BOE members or anyone's input. “I fear what comes to Millburn in this upcoming year. I am willing to work with you, but you have to work with us,” said Kris Heinrichs.

Dedication:
As many of you know, over the last year, our district lost much of its highly talented administration. During this change, Mr. Heinrichs remained dedicated to his role as BOE President and took time out of his day to meet with students, including myself, to hear our perspectives on what qualities we value in an educational leader.

Trustworthiness:
A strong handshake comes from someone who is confident and trustworthy. A weak handshake shows that he or she may be uncomfortable or even hiding something from you. If you are a recent graduate of Millburn High School, remember the quality of the handshake you received from Mr. Heinrichs and any handshakes you may have received that day afterward. I believe the one I received from Mr. Heinrichs was that of a man worthy of being a leader.

Jamie Serruto:
A leader leads during his term. A true leader cares about his community for life. When I was elected as Student Representative, I reached out to Jamie Serruto as I had heard he was a previous leader at MHS during his career as a student. Despite no longer being on the BOE, he still was willing to take the time and give me advice on how I could best bring positive change to the district.

One valuable piece of advice he gave me was not to focus on small things like a student having a broken locker, but to focus on bigger issues that affect the student body as a whole and to always listen to their input. I have made sure to follow his advice thoroughly and have been successful in bringing enhancements like Junior Privilege to our student body. Over the year, Mr. Serruto has checked in with me monthly to hear about progress and offer any help he could.

Now Mr. Serruto and Mr. Heinrichs want to bring positive change not just to our school district but to our town as a whole. If you want the job to get done, vote for Serruto and Heinrichs.

Sincerely,
Zachary D. Glatt
